Michie Video Update

Dear Family & Friends,

We have purchased our flights to return to Papua New Guinea as a family on July 11th. Our children will be finished school in Regina in late June.  We will try to have our house rented out for July 1st.

Mitchell returned a month ago from a trip to Papua New Guinea to work with Kala and Binumarien translation teams. He worked with his two newest Kala dialect teams on their translation of the Gospel of Mark and checked over some chapters of Matthew for the Manindala Kala.  He also did literacy work with the Binumarien translation team who are advisor checking Isaiah.  We are excited to hear the progress the teams are making.

Watch the video below.  It features an adventurous visit to a local market and a short interview with two Kala translators. https://bit.ly/4tW8rh0

Michie Prayer Points

·      We praise God for the improvement we have seen in Janeen’s health with the new medication.

·      Pray for us as we say our goodbyes to family and friends in Canada, as our children finish up their school year, and as we pack up.

·       Pray that Mitchell can reach Kala translation teams in the villages.  Cell phone coverage poses a challenge for getting our messages out.  Their team assignments are printed and waiting for them to pick up in the provincial capital along with newly translated Scripture which is ready for testing in the villages.  Pray that God will accomplish his purposes as his word is read by the people.

Pray that Mitchell can make progress in preparing advisor checks while the family finishes up their time in Canada.

·       Pray for Manindala translation team leader, Claude Elisha and his wife as they undergo cataract surgery in April.  Pray for a swift recovery.

·       Pray for the Binumarien translation team as they advisor check the books of Jeremiah, Psalms and Proverbs over the next few months.

Thank you!

We are so grateful for you who partner with us in prayer and finances.  Thank you for praying and supporting our work!

Blessings,

Mitchell and Janeen Michie

Fall Prayer Update

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for your prayers as we are still delayed in Canada and working through a treatment plan for Janeen. She is doing well on the new medication at a high dose to help with the flare ups from her auto-immune disease. I (Mitchell) am planning a trip to Papua New Guinea (PNG) from October 15- November 19 to meet with Kala and Binumarien translation teams.  I hope to work with all four dialect Kala teams for one week each and meet with the Binumarien team.

Please pray for me as I work on the logistics of the upcoming trip and prepare for work sessions with teams.  Pray that I would be able to communicate with teams in the remote villages so that they can come and work with me while I’m in PNG.

One weekend, I plan to travel out to the village where Ngasinom Alinga, one of our translators who was dear to us, passed away earlier this year.  Pray that God would bring comfort to the family in their loss.

A few months ago, we learned that our house in PNG flooded and that our main storage room in the house is mouldy.  I will need to work on throwing out mouldy items and getting the house ready for the family to return.  Pray that some people will be available to help with house cleaning and repairs.

Pray for Janeen and the children as they stay in Canada. Janeen’s specialist will assess her next week and again in December.  When Janeen has a good treatment plan in place and clearance from our mission’s doctor in PNG then we will be able to return overseas.  We thank God for the support we have from family and friends and especially for your prayers and partnership.

Blessings,

Mitchell & Janeen Michie
